Commitment
to
Quality
It
is the policy of Gannett Fleming, Inc. and its affiliated companies
to provide professional services that meet the requirements of
its clients. Gannett Fleming is committed to continuous quality
improvement (CQI) and to the involvement of all personnel
in a systematic,
logical process to continually improve work
practices and procedures.
The firm’s CQI process has been in-place since 1993.
New employees are introduced to the
CQI process by participation in a formal training session. Employees
are automatically assigned to a Quality Improvement Meeting Unit
(QIMU),
which provides a structure for addressing both quality
problems and opportunities for quality improvement.
The firm’s commitment to CQI is sustained by monthly meetings
of a Corporate Quality Improvement Team (CQIT), which includes
the firm’s senior management and a designated Quality
Manager. Each of the eight managing elements of the firm’s
CQI process is overseen by a CQIT member
who serves as a “champion” for that element. The eight
managing elements are:
- Commitment
- Planning
- Awareness
- Accountability
- Results
- Recognition
- Organization
- Renewal
Various programmatic responsibilities are carried out under each
element. For example, an Employee Opinion Survey falls
under the Commitment Element. The Director’s Quality Award
and President’s Quality Award programs fall under the Recognition
Element. A Client Satisfaction Evaluation program falls under the
Results Element. A newsletter, known as the QIMU Review,
falls under the Awareness Element.
The firm emphasizes the importance of individual employee contributions
toward quality improvement. The establishment of personal quality
improvement goals through an annual employee Performance Review
Program reinforces the importance of the employee’s role
in CQI.
Gannett Fleming’s CQI process carries over into the quality
of the firm’s products and services by the use of the firm’s Project Management and Quality Guidelines, which is a
controlled document accessible to all
employees via the Gannett Fleming intranet.
The firm's business units and staff are encouraged
to obtain appropriate certifications and registrations, such as
the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Gannett Fleming is proud to be ISO 9001:2000 certified nationwide.
