 Gannett Fleming served as the designer of this project, which consisted of locating, designing, and constructing 6.2 miles of a new four-lane limited access highway, an interchange, several bridges, and three mitigation sites.
Designing and constructing a highway along the mountainside of the Tioga River Valley required the excavation and placement of approximately five million cubic yards of earth. The presence of glacial soils, wetlands, and other environmental resources presented challenges throughout the course of the project, from the preliminary design stages through construction.
