Hike-A-Thon
Arizona Water and Pollution Control Association Water for People recently held its 2nd Annual Hike-A-Thon at Piestewa Peak. In conjunction with the Gannett Fleming Sports Committee, the Phoenix, Ariz., office put together a team of 18 that hiked the Freedom Trail and/or the Summit Trail for this event.
Water for People adopts a project each year, and the money raised at this year’s Hike-A-Thon benefited the San Jose de Los Guares Water System and Latrines in Honduras. Improvements will be made to the potable water system and provide complete coverage with a basic sanitation system to benefit approximately 590 people in 92 families.
