(Raleigh, N.C.) James C. Griffin, Jr., P.E., CxA, EMP, LEED® AP, was named vice president, engineering and technical services of Gannett Fleming following the firm’s acquisition of Griffin Engineering and Technical Services (Griffin Engineering). Based in Morrisville, N.C., Griffin will help expand Gannett Fleming’s presence in the pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, and commercial industries.
A veteran with more than 20 years of engineering design and facility operations experience, Griffin has an excellent command of the mechanical engineering skills required to take a project from conceptual design through construction. His experience includes managing the detailed design and construction process renovation of a biotech manufacturing facility and serving as commissioning authority for several LEED projects and a $250 million bio-tech manufacturing facility.
A registered professional engineer in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, Griffin also is an AABC Commissioning Group (ACG) Certified Commissioning Authority, ACG Energy Management Professional, and National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) Certified Professional. He holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Widener University. Active in professional associations, he is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Professional Engineers of North Carolina, National Society of Professional Engineers, and NEBB.
Griffin Engineering was founded in 2003 as a professional engineering services firm providing engineering, commissioning, validation, and test, adjust, and balance services. Through the Jan. 14, 2013, acquisition, Gannett Fleming expands its presence in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina, as well as its commissioning and validation services in the Southeast.
