Stout Named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

William M. Stout, P.E.(Harrisburg, Pa.) William M. Stout, P.E., was recently named chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm. Stout succeeds Ronald J. Drnevich, P.E., who retired in January 2008.

Based at the firm’s corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa., Stout is responsible for all Gannett Fleming and subsidiary and affiliated company operations. Previously, he served as president of the firm’s Valuation and Rate Division and director of the Administrative Division. He has been a member of Gannett Fleming’s parent company board of directors since 1996.

Stout began his career with Gannett Fleming nearly 35 years ago as a valuation engineer responsible for conducting studies related to utility plant depreciation and cost of service, as well as extensive service life studies for clients such as Union Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation. He has appeared as an expert witness in more than 120 proceedings related to utility regulation and tax litigation.

Stout holds a bachelor of science in management engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania.

Active in professional associations, Stout is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, Institute of Industrial Engineers, and is a former president of the Society of Depreciation Professionals. He is also a member of the Design Professionals Coalition, the Construction Industry Round Table, the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Institute for Business Management, and serves as a member of ACEC of Pennsylvania’s Business Practices Committee.
