Smith Receives Second NMSPE Service Award

Raymond J. Smith, E.I.(Albuquerque, N.M.) Raymond J. Smith, E.I., has received the Outstanding Service Award from the New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers (NMSPE). This award honors an individual who has achieved an outstanding record of service to NMSPE and a local chapter, as well as to the community and engineering profession. Smith also received this award from the Albuquerque Chapter of NMSPE in 2007.

Smith has been a member of NMSPE since 2000. He has served on the board as a director for the Albuquerque Chapter and at the state level. He has also been involved with NMSPE’s E-Week Committee for the past six years.

Smith is a project designer for Gannett Fleming West, Inc., a New Mexico-based engineering corporation specializing in planning, design, and construction management. With 15 years of experience, his responsibilities include developing project scoping; conducting drainage studies; performing transportation, drainage, and utility designs; preparing plans, bidding documents, and specifications; overseeing the bidding and construction phases of projects; and providing project closeout and review services.

Smith holds a bachelor of science in engineering technology with a focus in mechanical engineering from New Mexico State University. He is certified as an engineer intern in New Mexico.
