Amanda Schuman

(Harrisburg, Pa.) Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm, recently awarded scholarships to family members of two employees.

Emily J. Bingham, granddaughter of William B. Bingham from the firm’s corporate office located in Harrisburg, Pa., and Amanda Schuman, daughter of William G. Schuman from the Austin, Texas, office, are the winners of this year's Gannett Fleming Scholarship program. Each recipient will receive $1,000 towards her education.

Bingham, a 2008 graduate of Camp Hill High School in Camp Hill, Pa., will attend Franklin & Marshall College with a major in biological foundations of behavior with a concentration in neuroscience. Schuman, a 2008 graduate of Nevada High School in Nevada, Iowa, will attend Minnesota State University, Mankato with a major in biotechnology.

The Gannett Fleming Scholarship was created to recognize the children and grandchildren of the firm’s employees who show exceptional leadership and character. The winners were chosen by a panel of non-partisan judges, based on their answers to two essay questions, their most recent school transcripts, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation.
