Kovacs Named Civil Engineer of the Year

John Kovacs, P.E., PMP(Pittsburgh, Pa.) John Kovacs, P.E., PMP, has been named Civil Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Pittsburgh Section. This prestigious award recognizes his professional accomplishments and contributions to the civil engineering community.

Kovacs is a vice president and regional office manager for Gannett Fleming, Inc., an international planning, design, and construction management firm. He is responsible for managing the Pittsburgh regional office operations, involving office administration, technical supervision, and management of civil design.

A registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and New Mexico, and a certified project management professional through the Project Management Institute, Kovacs holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, a master of science in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and a master of business administration from the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business.

John has been actively involved in the ASCE, Pittsburgh Section, for more than 12 years and currently serves on the board of directors as immediate past president.

ASCE is a professional association whose mission is to develop leadership, advance technology, advocate lifelong learning, and promote the civil engineering profession.
