(Pittsburgh, Pa.) The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Pittsburgh Section Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) has been selected as the winner of the 2008 EWRI Section and Branch Activities Council Outstanding Technical Group/Institute Award.
This award is presented to groups that are active relative to the geographic size of the section; have a high number of EWRI engineering employees participating; assist ASCE non-practice groups; perform community service or philanthropic activities; co-sponsor activities with other engineering groups; and have a higher percentage of non-engineering EWRI participants involved.
In its past two operating years, EWRI Pittsburgh sponsored several presentations and day long review courses, certification testing, and facility tours. In addition, the group has exhibited at events of cooperative organizations, and has teamed with ASCE National on several local seminars.
Jason J. McBride, P.E., project manager in the Municipal Services Group in Gannett Fleming’s Pittsburgh, Pa., office, accepted the award on behalf of the Pittsburgh Section as chairman of the institute, at the Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2008 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
