
Allen Named President of ACEC/PA

(Harrisburg, Pa.) Chester L. Allen, P.E., was recently named president of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA) for the term beginning on April 16, 2008, and running through April 2009. In this role, Allen will preside over the ACEC/PA executive board and board of directors.
ACEC/PA is a professional association comprised of consulting engineering firms with offices located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The goal of ACEC/PA is to enable member firms to provide quality engineering services that best serve the interests of their clients and the public.
Allen is a senior vice president and director of transportation with Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm. Based in the firm’s corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa., Allen manages and directs all engineering services related to highways, bridges, buildings, tunnels, mass transit systems, and railroads. He is also a member of the firm’s board of directors.
With more than 35 years of experience, Allen specializes in structural design, technical assistance, and inspection services on various types of transit, water treatment, and wastewater treatment structures, as well as projects involving evaluation of structural integrity. He holds a bachelor of science and a master of science in civil engineering from West Virginia University and is a registered professional engineer in eight states.
