NADO Recognizes Greater DuBois Analysis
October 22, 2007
(Harrisburg, Pa.) The Greater DuBois Intermodal Facility and Freight Analysis has received a 2007 Excellence in Regional Transportation Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO). NADO's new awards program recognizes projects that encourage regional solutions and cooperation to foster local prosperity and services.
The North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission requested the DuBois Freight Analysis and Needs Assessment Study to analyze regional freight flows and potential commodities served by a freight intermodal
facility in the greater DuBois, Pa., area.
As the lead on the study, Gannett Fleming provided a freight economic assessment of the region; identified freight-related economic development opportunities through a goods movement analysis; suggested necessary infrastructure improvements;
and developed strategies to assist in formulating public-private partnerships.
The results of this analysis and needs assessment will help the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission plan future freight projects.
