McHugh Receives National ASCE Award

Jonathan D. McHugh, P.E.(Pittsburgh, Pa.) Jonathan D. McHugh, P.E., has received the Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). McHugh was presented with this national award in recognition of his professional achievement, technical competence, high character and integrity, and contributions to public service.

Active in ASCE, McHugh serves as a corresponding member to the Committee for Younger Members for Region 2, and he is helping to plan the 2008 National ASCE Conference in Pittsburgh, Pa. Within his local organization, McHugh previously served as ASCE, Pittsburgh Section Webmaster and as the Younger Members Forum president and vice president. He has also been nominated to serve on the Pittsburgh Section Board of Directors through 2009. McHugh received the ASCE, Pittsburgh Section Young Civil Engineer of the Year Award in 2006.

McHugh is a structural project engineer and assistant project manager with Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm. With more than 10 years of experience, he is responsible for performing engineering calculations and preparing project plans and specifications. In a dual role, McHugh applies his graphics expertise to develop project Web sites and prepare presentations and proposals.

McHugh holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of Detroit and is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania. In addition to his ASCE involvement, McHugh is a member of the Structural Engineering Institute, Architectural Engineering Institute, and the American Society of Highway Engineers.
