Produced by Gannett Fleming through a contract with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), the Construction Project Management Handbook was designed for transit agencies undertaking substantial construction projects either for the first time or with little experience in construction management. Among many items, the Handbook guides agencies in the application of the principles of project management from project initiation through planning, environmental clearance, real estate acquisition, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
The Construction Project Management Handbook is posted on the FTA’s public Web site at http://www.fta.dot.gov/documents/Construct_Proj_Mangmnt_CD.pdf.
The FTA posted the Handbook online in January and received 238 hits in the first week. As a result of excellent industry reviews, Gannett Fleming was authorized to develop an interactive CD-ROM version of the Handbook to be published by the end of this year.
The Handbook was developed by Gannett Fleming's Program/Project Management Consulting Practice which, for the past 10 years, has assisted public- and private- sector clients with a full range of program- and project-related services. The demand for Gannett Fleming’s program and project management services has been growing nationally as clients strive to enhance the management of their capital improvement programs and project delivery.
