Rachford Elected to National ASCE Board

Thomas Rachford, P.E., Ph.D.(Harrisburg, Pa.) Thomas Rachford, P.E., Ph.D., has been elected to a three-year term on the national Board of Direction for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

The ASCE Board of Direction is responsible for the supervision, control, and mission of the 140,000-member professional society. In this prestigious role, Rachford is one of 17 directors. He will help to set policy, prioritize programs, and allocate resources for ASCE.

Based in Gannett Fleming’s corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa., Rachford is a vice president and the firm’s corporate quality officer. He is responsible for implementing and maintaining effective quality improvement programs throughout the firm’s 50 regional offices.

With more than 36 years of engineering experience, Rachford holds a bachelor of science and a master of science in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky. He also holds a doctorate degree in civil engineering from Stanford University. A registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania, Rachford is a member of the Project Management Institute, the American Society for Quality, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
