(Harrisburg, Pa.) The Pennsylvania Section of the American Water Resources Association (PA-AWRA) will hold its annual conference on Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at the Days Inn in State College, Pa.
The focus of the PA-AWRA conference is “Emergency Preparedness and Response in Water Resources Management,” with one session devoted to each component. In response to the severe flooding experienced in Pennsylvania this year, flood-related issues will be the central theme of several presentations. Federal and state officials will describe and discuss Pennsylvania’s emergency operations programs. Speakers will also present management techniques for drought emergences and ongoing efforts to address stream contamination and water quality threats.
The PA-AWRA conference is open to engineers, consultants, basin and watershed planners, regulators, water supply and wastewater system managers, faculty, researchers, aquatic biologists, users, stakeholders, and water resource professionals.

The registration fee for the conference is $55 until Oct. 14, which includes coffee, refreshments, lunch, and membership in PA-AWRA for 2007.
