(Harrisburg, Pa.) The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) recently awarded a $4 million contract to Vertical Transportation Excellence (VTX), an elevator and escalator consulting firm that serves aviation, education, government, healthcare, commercial, retail, recreation, and public transit clients across the United State. VTX will provide on-call elevator and escalator design evaluation and inspection services for MBTA’s major projects under this new contract.
VTX, an independent expert, will assist the MBTA with a number of critical issues related to design, operating, and maintaining vertical transportation systems, including providing advice and consultation with Operations Support on matters of management, infrastructure reinvestment, safety, contract compliance and construction inspections, incident response/recovery, maintenance oversight, and construction.
This equals the largest contract that VTX has secured and is among the largest known single agreements within the industry, specifically dedicated to vertical transportation services.
VTX is the lead on a multi-firm team for this project, which was organized to meet the diversified needs anticipated by MBTA over the term of this agreement. Kenneth G. Hamby, Q.E.I., Vice President will be managing this project.
