 (Pittsburgh, Pa.) Terry L. Downs, P.G., was recently named the manager of geotechnical services for the Pittsburgh office of Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm. Downs previously served as a geotechnical project manager with the firm.
In his new position, Downs is responsible for leading business development and directing the Pittsburgh office’s geotechnical assignments. He coordinates the efforts of engineers, geologists, technicians, and subcontractors in various aspects of project investigations, design, and construction inspection.
Gannett Fleming provides geotechnical services for transportation, water supply, building, and construction inspection projects performed for federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as private clients.
With more than 21 years of experience, Downs has an extensive background in highway, water supply, and building projects. He is skilled in supervising engineers and geologists, writing proposals, preparing contracts, supervising subsurface investigations, and handling client relations.
Downs holds a bachelor of science in geology from the University of Pittsburgh and a master of science in civil engineering from the University of Maryland.
