(Harrisburg, PA) Gene C. Koontz, P.E., has been elected chair of the Pennsylvania Section of the American Water Works Association (PA-AWWA). Koontz serves as the director of Gannett Fleming’s Environmental Resources Division and is a senior vice president with the firm.
As chair, Koontz will serve as the Section’s spokesman and attend functions on behalf of the PA-AWWA. He will supervise the organization’s affairs, appoint PA-AWWA committee members, and preside over membership meetings.
PA-AWWA is dedicated to providing leadership and resources to ensure safe, affordable, and sufficient water in Pennsylvania. The professional association advances technology, education, science, management, and government policies to achieve this mission.
With more than 30 years of experience with Gannett Fleming, Koontz is responsible for managing the firm’s environmental practices, providing planning and technical studies, preliminary and final designs, and construction management to municipal and commercial clients. He oversees 240 engineers and scientists in the firm’s environmental and earth science practices, located in five offices across central Pennsylvania
