Gannett Fleming Awarded Wyoming Dam Study Projects

June 24, 2005

(Phoenix, Ariz.) Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm, has been contracted by the Wyoming Water Development Commission to complete conceptual design studies for five water supply dam projects. Gannett Fleming will serve as the prime consultant for two of the projects, and provide geotechnical and dam design services under subcontracts on three additional projects.

The firm’s Fort Collins/Windsor office, in collaboration with the Phoenix office, will perform these studies. All five projects will include development, evaluation, and conceptual design of dam and storage alternatives for irrigation and municipal water supplies in various locations throughout Wyoming.

Gannett Fleming will serve as the prime consultant for the Viva Naughton Enlargement project located in the Hams Fork drainage in southwestern Wyoming. This project will advance geotechnical and environmental studies, as well as conceptual designs of alternatives to provide additional water supplies in the area. Alternatives to be studied include the enlargement of the existing Viva Naughton Dam and construction of a new, off-stream dam and reservoir at one of two identified sites.

Gannett Fleming will also serve as the prime consultant for the Bridger Valley Reservoir project in southwestern Wyoming. This project will investigate current and future municipal water needs in the Bridger Valley area, multiple use, and cost-sharing opportunities for a new storage reservoir. The study will also consider alternatives to store winter releases from the Stateline Dam, to make water available for use in the summer and fall when stream flows are low.

Gannett Fleming will provide services under subcontracts for three additional projects, including: geologic and geotechnical studies for re-regulating reservoirs on two major irrigation canals near Riverton, Wyo.; reconnaissance-level evaluation to support irrigation system upgrades near Wheatland, Wyo.; and conceptual design of a 1,500 acre-foot storage reservoir to supplement water supply for a water treatment plant that supplies water to the towns of Rawlins and Sinclair, Wyo.
