GeoDecisions,
a division of Gannett Fleming that specializes in information technology
and geographic information systems (GIS), was recently presented
with the New Technology Product of the Year
award at the 11th annual Technology Awards Gala. The event,
sponsored by the Technology Council of Central
Pennsylvania, was held at the Whitaker Center for Science
and the Arts.
GeoDecisions received the award for its Intelligent Road/Rail Information
Server (IRRIS) application.
IRRIS was developed to support the Military Traffic Management Command
Transportation Engineering Agency’s mission to aid in the global
deployment of U.S. armed forces. The GIS product has the ability
to document the movement of cargo by land, air, and sea on a global
basis.
IRRIS is the first Web-based portal in the world designed to combine
highly-detailed, local, and relevant information into one intuitive
Web-based interface for military and U.S. infrastructure information.
This technology can also be used by both public and private organizations
and as a tool to protect the nation’s infrastructure. Learn
